VW ID. Polo — Interactive Launch Concept
Client: VW Deutschland
Concept & Art Direction
What happens when electric power becomes visible?
Concept
To launch the VW ID. Polo, I developed a public activation turning car and city into a single reactive system, transforming Germany’s iconic landmarks into living, luminous sculptures triggered by the driver’s touch.
Power That Radiates. An Interactive Energy Installation
A singular ID. Polo is positioned at night in front of historic landmarks. Doors open, interior glowing. From its battery, glowing neon cables connect directly to the surrounding architecture.
Initial renders
Visitors sit in the driver’s seat. Pressing the accelerator activates live power, a surge of blue energy pulses through the cables toward the monument. As acceleration increases, the landmark lights up in sync with the driver’s input. Letting go returns the space to darkness.
Projection mapping tests
The installation was conceived as a public ritual, a shared visual experience where every participant becomes a co-creator.
The pedal signal drives the whole show: soft presses trigger LED washes, hard presses fire projection bursts. The car supplies the power, the microcontroller sends the DMX/ArtNet commands, and the façade reacts instantly to the driver’s motion.
