I Stand Alone

Schön! Magazine Editorial
CONCEPT, CREATIVE DIRECTION, CREATIVE PRODUCTION, PHOTOGRAPHY, EDIT

“I Stand Alone” is a personal editorial exploring themes of isolation, exclusion, and identity construction.
Shot from three static perspectives and composited into a single surreal scene, the series captures the same model repeatedly — reflecting the emotional dissonance of standing among others yet feeling unseen.
The work is grounded in my own story of growing up feeling like an outsider, and reclaims that experience through visual control and narrative reconstruction.

early tests and compositing experiments

I built detailed moodboards exploring symmetry, posture, eye lines, and spatial interaction. I mapped out each shot to ensure the body language and perspective would align in post. Lighting was key — I tested setups to keep shadows and highlights consistent, so the final images would feel seamless, yet uncanny.

I wanted to blend fashion minimalism with something more emotionally charged — a sense of isolation and confrontation. The process let me translate my personal story into a visual language that feels intimate, sculptural, and strange all at once.

references & moodboard excerpt

This was a 9-person production involving stylists, assistants, set design, and lighting crew. I sourced, led, and directed the team — from moodboard to final retouching. Every decision, from casting to shot timing, was part of a tightly shaped creative process.

The series was published in Schön! Magazine, showcased alongside designers like Hermés, Boss and Dries Van Noten. Beyond aesthetic execution, it became a visual metaphor — a surreal reflection of the desire to belong, and the strangeness of conformity.
